We are delighted to welcome Sahaja to the IFT team!
Hailing from Hyberabad, Sahaja has quickly risen in the ranks on the WTA tour after a stellar collegiate career. She has 4 ITF titles under her belt and is looking for more. Sahaja has a career high WTA ranking of #284 and is currently the highest ranked Indian tennis player on the WTA tour.
You may have already seen Sahaja around, practicing with other players or Head Coach Akiko at Edgewater Tennis Center or Bergenfield Tennis Club.
We have also the opportunity to organize for our High Performance players to meet and play with Sahaja and other pros. In 2023, Sahaja and Sayaka Ishii (WTA career high #200, ITF Juniors career high #5) came to play and speak with some of the players in the IFT program.
She will continue training at ITF when she’s not at tournaments, hitting with Coach Akiko who has also toured with her in 2024. We hope to be able to support Sahaja in her further success and growth on the tour, while also learning from her experiences as well. Her story and work ethic is an inspiration for the IFT team and players.
